On January 18, 2018 at 2:00am, Allscripts, our electronic medical records software company, became aware of a ransomware attack at two of their facilities in North Carolina. They immediately cut the connection so that absolutely no data was breached. This security measure to protect patient data has impacted medical facilities across the country as patient information could not be accessed. Allscripts client base includes 180,000 physicians across nearly 45,000 ambulatory facilities, 2,500 hospitals and 17,000 post-acute organizations. Pediatrics South is part of their client base. The FBI and Law Enforcement were notified at the beginning of this event.
Allscripts has begun to restore applications safely and securely. The safety and security of our patients is paramount in this and all situations. Again, we have been assured by Allscripts that none of our patient data was affected and we now have some access as Allscripts continue s to rebuild their connection.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call Pediatrics South directly at 412-561-7541 to receive accurate information. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
